SELF DIRECTED UNIVERSITY PROJECT
Creating beautiful, ethical textiles for use in a high end/ couture market, aiming to replace the need for use of animal skins in the fashion industry. An attempt to combat the needless brutality many animals face at the expense of fashion. Undertaken during lockdown, this project focussed on the use of found objects and scrap materials combined in interesting ways to create new surface textures.

SKINS.
Paper manipulation featured as a primary way of exploring structural properties. Inspired by architects such as Frei Otto, and structures such as the Munich Olympic stadium, studying how shape and form can be combined and manipulated to create 3D structures.
Recycled paper, scrap vegan leather and upcycled lolly sticks were all manipulated as part of visual research and the design development process.
A combination of Physical manipulation, photography and CAD were used in the design development/ visualisation process to create a realistic representation of what the samples might look like.
